Access to markets and access to capital are the top challenges facing women entrepreneurs. The Business-to-Business (B2B) Showcase will provide a platform to connect major multinational corporations and financial institutions with female entrepreneurs from whom they could potentially source inputs for their products and provide financial services. For corporates and bankers, this is a chance to identify local small businesses vetted by the USG that would enable them to meet local content and CSR objectives. Meanwhile, for entrepreneurs, this is an opportunity to potentially access new markets by meeting face-to-face with private sector buyers and financiers to initiate the first step in entering a global supply chain and capitalizing upon AGOA and regional trade opportunities.
The Live Pitch Session. This component will provide an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to give a 2-3 minute pitch of their business to judges. Judges will listen to two rounds of pitching sessions and provide feedback at the end of each round. Each session will allow for approximately 5 women to provide their pitch. The top winners from each round will be selected to compete in the final pitching competition for a prize by high level judges.
